Zeke is officially ready to find the forever home he’s always deserved after successfully recovering from double TPLO surgery. And according to his foster dad, he’s like a whole new dog — happier, more confident, playful, and absolutely loving life.

There’s a lot to love about Zeke, but one of the first things you’ll notice is just how smart he is. Zeke learns incredibly quickly and listens closely to his people. He’s even figured out that being patient gets rewarded — like waiting for his foster dad’s “okay” before grabbing a treat, even when he wasn’t actually asked to wait! He genuinely seems to enjoy learning and figuring out what his people are asking of him.

His foster dad says Zeke is probably the easiest dog he’s ever fostered, and it’s easy to understand why.
​
Zeke is a wonderful mix of adventure buddy and couch companion. He loves going for walks around the pond, where he checks in on all his duck friends, and he’s great on leash. He also enjoys joining walks with his dog friends. Whether you’re heading out for an adventure, working in the garage, relaxing in the yard, or simply going about your day, Zeke is happiest when he gets to be right there with you.

And coming home to Zeke might just be the best part. There is no better feeling than walking through the door and seeing the joy radiating off this sweet boy as he greets you. Zeke is affectionate, cuddly, calm, and incredibly happy to be with his people. He doesn’t need to be the centre of attention — he just wants to be included.

Of course, Zeke has plenty of playful energy too! Toys are one of his greatest joys. Stuffies tend to have a short life expectancy around him, but ropes, tug toys, balls, fetch, and puzzle toys are all favourites. He’ll happily bring the ball right back and gently place it in your hand for another throw. And another. And another.
Zeke is house trained, place trained, great in the car, and does wonderfully free roaming at home while his foster dad is at work. He loves people, including small children, and gets along well with other dogs. He hasn’t been officially cat tested, but he has shown calm curiosity toward cats at adoption events. Horses? Completely unbothered.

Like many rescue dogs, Zeke does have a few sensitivities from his past. He likely experienced abuse early in life, so crates are extremely stressful for him. Loud noises such as thunder or construction can also make him nervous. When that happens, he simply looks to his people for reassurance, belly rubs, or a quiet place to settle. He also prefers chin scratches and gentle affection rather than being immediately petted on top of the head.
​
And then there are those ears. One stands straight up while the other flops down, perfectly matching Zeke’s goofy, lovable personality.
​
After everything Zeke has been through, seeing him confidently enjoy life again is pretty special. He is intelligent, loyal, playful, cuddly, calm, resilient, and happiest when he’s part of his people’s lives.
